Packing and Traveling

If I thought packing for our first motorhome trip was daunting this was even more!  At first we were trying to each only have a carry on but given that you can only have 17lbs per bag it got tricky!  While Europe has been unseasonably hot these days we are also planning on traveling through the Swiss Alps and may see some snow so we needed a little bit of everything.  Then add in some stuffed animals and comforts of home and space fills up real fast!  We ended up with one smallish bag and one backpack each which I thought was pretty good!

I can't recommend getting TSA Preapproved enough!  Jay has had it for years now and while he typically has taken the girls and all of our carry ons with him while I get 10 minutes of alone time on our trips it really did make security such a breeze having it too!  We flew out of Logan and after checking in with the airline we were through security in about 2 minutes!  Another thing I would recommend is figuring out which credit card you use works best for your lifestyle.  Once we knew we were going on this trip we switched to a credit card that not only gave us enough points to cover our flights but also gives access to the lounge at the airport, making a 3 hour wait way more comfortable when you have access to a private room with couches, free food and drinks and bathrooms!  Had we been flying out from one gate over we may have even been able to board the airplane right from the lounge!  Jay also uses the lounge when traveling for work which makes traveling a couple times a week a lot more comfortable and a space to get more work done while he waits.  We flew Lufthansa and even though we had economy seats they were super comfy, fairly spacious and the service was top notch.  Shortly after departure we were offered dinner, a pasta alfredo or chicken.  We all chose the pasta and while bland at least everyone at a little of it!  We were also offered drinks and wine which they quickly replenished for anyone that had chosen wine.  We watched a quick movie and the girls settled off to sleep quickly!  While Jay and I only slept off and on the girls slept great!  Abs was up for breakfast and before we knew it we were on the ground.  Once figuring out our bearings at the airport we were quickly through customs in minutes and ready to take on our motorhome adventure!
