La Fouly, Switzerland

We spent three nights at Camping Des Glaciers n La Fouly, Switzerland.  This is the first campground we've been to that have actual camp sites.  Some are  wooded, most like ours are in the open but with plenty of space in between.  Our site sits with a perfect view, except for one tree, of the glacier.  Knowing that this is a tiny town with just one small store for those camping or hiking we made a stop at the grocery store on our way in.  This takes us a lot longer then usual given it's a store we're not used to, throw in a language barrier and all of the different items they offer we easily spent at least an hour and a half there.  While we haven't had any issue finding food and snacks that everyone enjoys we have noticed that everything tastes a little more bland and the portion sizes of snacks that might last us a few days at home last one maybe two servings.  we arrived at the campground late afternoon, following the gps we went over a questionable bridge into the campground (not really the sign posted was 12 tons which we are under) we made our way to the reception office and settled into our site. The girls checked  out the playground for a bit and then we took a quick walk up to the town to see if the office was open (it was closed) that we could purchase a pass that gave us access to all of the local attractions including the ropes course at the campground, rides up the chairlifts in La Fouly and Champex-Lac, scooter rentals in both towns, a couple pools, tennis, a botanical garden, as well as access to the bus lines that travel between the towns and so much more!  The girls played some more at the playground, checked out the rock climbing all before a late dinner and settled in for the night.  The next morning we walked up to town to purchase our pass cards we also picked up a treasure map that leads you all around the town and campground asking you questions to figure out the code combination to the treasure box at the end.  When the map took us back down to the ropes course we decided to take a break from the map and check out the course.  After being fit for our harnesses Abigail quickly began to climb the first course.  Charlotte wasn't as sure and went as far as she was comfortable before turning back around.  Jay and Char tried out the first course again getting a little further along then her previous attempt while Abs and I went up to the next level.  While Abigail could make her way through the course with ease it took all of my strength and courage to get through it!!  Jay and Abigail then skipped the third course and went straight for the fourth, the highest course.  I could barely watch them how high they were up!  Char and I played at the playground for a while and after many times on the zip line swing she decided she was ready to try the course again so when jay and Abigail finished he took her back on the first course and she got through it all!  She was beaming ear to ear and we were so proud of her too!  Abigail and Jay completed the third course before we'd had enough of that for the day and needed lunch.  After lunch we bundled all of our clothes on to head up the chair lift.  While we were mostly prepared for cold weather we did end up buying the girls gloves and char a hat.  The weather is beautiful when the sun is shining but very cold when the wind whips off the glacier and mountains!  For the most part with layers we were fine!  The vies from the top of the mountain are incredible and we kept thinking it must be a great place to ski as you really need to be staying in town as there is little to no parking otherwise!  After the chair lift we completed the treasure map and we were  rewarded with chocolate!  Jay made us delicious burgers for dinner before we settled in for the night before the rain.  The nights are quite chilly dipped down to the mid 30's!  Jay and I have however ditched the bed that pulls down in the front after night one when we left the window above it open and it got soaked from the rain and have been bunking up with the girls in the back.  Their bed is much more comfortable anyways and with plenty of room anyways it keeps us all toasty warm at night.  The next morning we decided to check out the other town in the area Champex-Lac so we packed a bag and hopped on the bus.  None of us were in store for the journey the second bus took us on.  It proceeded to wrap its way around the steeped mountain.  Jay kept asking if I knew it was going to be like that abs I couldn't tell if he was actually nervous or just joking because he has taken us on some crazy steep rides himself but I guess that's different when your the one driving and in control.  After coming in some close calls with one car and a group of motorcycles we reached the top.  after buying a hat for char we made our way to the botanical garden.  The warm sun felt amazing and the flowers beautiful.  After we took the chair lift up to the top.  Who knew Jay also has a slight fear of chair lifts! (I had to agree it was super high up and somehow feels different with the absence of snow!). We checked out the view for a bit and stopped for a drink and some Pommes Frites before making our way back down.  As if our legs hadn't gotten enough excessive we decided to take out a peddle boat around the lake. The girls each took turns peddling us around before we had to make our way back in to catch the bus back home.  Back at the campground jay and the girls took on the ropes course again while I opted for a hot shower while the sun was still warm.  We made a delicious chicken dinner that the girls devoured before they headed off to bed.  Jay had a work call and we got some laundry done before calling it a night.  Before we headed off this morning the kids did the ropes course which char now does the first leg with ease.  I'm sure if we were here a couple more days she would be braving level two.  We can't say enough good things about our time here and the pictures don't even begin to do it justice but for now we will make our way towards France.  Our next reservation is not until Thursday in Paris so for the next two nights we will begin to make our way there.
